고양시, 도심항공교통(UAM) 산업의 미래를 여는 착수보고회 개최

- 국토부 수도권 실증사업(GC-2)과 연계...지속가능한 미래 교통 혁신 선도

고양특례시(시장 이동환)가 지난 7일‘고양특례시 UAM 산업 육성방안 연구용역 착수보고회’를 성황리에 개최하며, 도심 항공 모빌리티(UAM) 산업의 미래를 밝히는 중대한 전환점을 맞이했다.

이번 용역을 수행하는 한국항공대학교 산학협력단은 국내 유일무이한 항공특성화 대학으로 우수한 교수진이 UAM산업 학술 연구 및 개발 등 다양한 UAM의 기술적·경제적 가능성 연구에 앞장서고 있다.

공동도급사인 와이젠글로벌(주)는 국가·공공기관·지자체 등의 UAM사업에 참여하고 있는 전문 컨설팅기업으로 컨소시엄의 시너지 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

이번 용역은 국토교통부 주관의 UAM 수도권 실증사업(GC-2)과 연계해 도심 항공 교통의 중·장기적 산업 육성 및 인프라 구축, 기업 유치에 중점을 두고 추진한다. 이를 통해 시는 UAM 분야의 글로벌 선도 도시로서의 입지를 확고히 할 예정이다.

시는 이번 용역을 통해 ▲UAM 산업육성 및 기업유치를 위한 로드맵 구축 ▲ UAM 실증단지 인근 UAM MRO단지 조성 검토 ▲국내⋅외 UAM 산업분석 및 유치 가능 기업 발굴⋅제안 ▲사회적 수용성 및 시장 조사 ▲UAM 시범운용구역 지정을 위한 회랑(항로) 검토 등을 수립하고 향후 UAM 관련 기반 시설 구축 및 정부 공모 등에 적극 활용할 예정이다.

이번 보고회에는 이해림 환경경제위원장을 비롯한 많은 고양특례시의회 의원들이 참석해 높은 관심을 보였다. 이해림 환경경제위원장은 “고양특례시는 도심항공교통(UAM) 산업을 선도하는 지자체로서 의회를 대표해 지역 경제와 산업 발전을 위한 도심항공교통 산업을 적극적으로 지원하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

최영수 고양특례시 자족도시실현국장은 “이번 착수보고회를 통해 UAM 산업의 혁신적 미래를 준비하고, 지역 경제의 새로운 패러다임을 선도할 발판을 마련했다”며 “첨단 도심형 항공 교통 수단을 통해 고양시의 미래를 밝히는 데 최선을 다할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

시는 이번 착수보고회를 시작으로 UAM 산업 관련 연구와 실증사업을 본격적으로 진행하게 되며, 지역사회의 적극적인 참여와 지원을 바탕으로 도심항공교통수단의 상용화를 위해 정부·항공대 등 관련기관과 함께 협력할 예정이다.

Goyang Special City Holds Commencement Report Session to Open the Future of AAM Industry

-Leading sustainable future transportation innovation in conjunction with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s demonstration project (GC-2)

Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) successfully held the commencement report meeting for the 'Goyang Special City AAM Industry Promotion Plan Research Service' on August 7, marking a significant turning point that will illuminate the future of the advanced air mobility(AAM) industry.

The Korea Aerospace University Industry-Academic Cooperation Group, which is carrying out this service, is the only aviation-specialized university in Korea, and is leading the way in various AAM technical and economic feasibility studies, including academic research and development of the UAM industry, including excellent faculty members. The joint contractor, Wizen Global Co., Ltd., is a professional consulting firm participating in UAM projects for the state, public institutions, and local governments, and is expected to have synergy effects from the consortium.

This service will focus on mid- to long-term industrial promotion and infrastructure construction of urban air traffic and attracting companies through close cooperation with the UAM Metropolitan Area Demonstration Project (GC-2) hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Through this, Goyang City will solidify its position as a global leading city in the AAM sector.

Through this service, the city will establish ▲ a roadmap for fostering the AAM industry and attracting companies ▲ reviewing the establishment of a AAM MRO complex near the AAM demonstration complex ▲ analyzing domestic and foreign AAM industries and discovering and proposing companies that can be attracted ▲ conducting social acceptance and market research ▲ examining corridors for designating UAM pilot operation zones, etc., and will actively utilize them in the future for building AAM-related infrastructure and government competitions.

Many members of the Goyang Special City Council, including Chairman of the Environment and Economy Committee Lee Hae-rim, attended this report meeting and showed great interest. Chairman of the Environment and Economy Committee Lee Hae-rim said, “Goyang Special City is a local government leading the advanced air traffic (AAM) industry, and on behalf of the council, I will actively support this industry for the development of the local economy and industry.”

Choi Young-soo, Director of the Goyang Special City Self-Sufficiency City Realization Bureau, said, “Through this inaugural report meeting, we have prepared for the innovative future of the AAM industry and laid the foundation for leading a new paradigm for the local economy. Goyang City will do its best to brighten the future of the city through advanced urban air transportation,” he said.

Starting with this commencement report meeting, Goyang Special City will conduct research and demonstration projects related to the AAM industry in earnest, and will cooperate with the government, aviation universities, and other related organizations to commercialize advanced air transportation based on active participation and support from the local community.
